Dr. Mystico (voiced by Tim Curry) is a mad scientist who genetically combines humans and orangutans. He seeks to take over the world, which he frequently confuses with Cleveland. He has been called "mad," "insane," and "Wendell" (the latter implying his full name is "Wendell Mystico"). After being barred from the universities, Mystico was forced to retreat to a private island. He uses a mirror to blind passing aircraft, causing them to crash and provide him with new test subjects, whom he imprisons in molecular bamboo cages.
His cat Sparkle is his closest companion. He has three orangumanservants: Fatima, Akbar and Ringo.

- Voice actor Tim Curry is best known for playing Dr. Frank N. Furter in the cult hit movie Rocky Horror Picture Show, and the titular demonic entity in the 1990 adaptation of Stephen King's It. He was cast as the initial voice of the Joker on Batman: The Animated Series and recorded four episodes, but was replaced (and redubbed) by Mark Hamill. He played Dr. Sevarius on Freakazoid!'s contemporary animated series (and favorite spoof fodder) Gargoyles. Other prominent roles include the 1995 film Congo (a favorite parody subject of the Freakazoid! writers), the 1982 musical film Annie (as the boyfriend of Animaniacs star Bernadette Peters), the 1985 film Clue, and playing Mozart in the 1980 Broadway production of Amadeus (the film version of which inspired the Freakazoid! series finale "Normadeus").
